My Week in Brief

Oct. 9 – With joy we received Shirley Kaney as an FBC member today.  Let’s keep our covenant to strengthen and encourage one another as we journey toward home.  (PK)

Oct. 9 – We collected an offering of $564 for world hunger today. I’m sure that was reduced by Hurricane Matthew. So we will extend the offering through the end of October. We also received $245 for Disaster Relief (plus $1,100 Janie Chapman offering).  We will also extend that opportunity.  If God leads you to contribute to these, simply note “Hunger” or “Matthew” on your check or envelope. (PK)

Oct. 11 – We had a fun (almost politics free J) Men’s Breakfast this a.m.  I truly enjoy rubbing shoulders with these good men.  Guys, you would, too.  So put it on your calendar for 8 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month?  Our next one is set for Nov. 8. (PK)

Oct. 11 – I just heard a marvelous story of God’s perfect timing. The Gideons had a trip to distibute Bibles scheduled for Haiti in August, but it was postponed.  Tim McCormick now leaves on Friday.  I know there is a need to relieve their physical distress, but there is always a need to meet the needs of eternal souls!  (PK)

Oct. 11 – Guys, you don’t want to miss the C.A.M.O. (Calling All Men Out) Wild Game Dinner at the Schrock Farm on Oct. 30!  (PK)

Oct 11 – Next Sunday, Oct. 23 is Senior Saints Day! A lunch with entertainment will be held in the Activity Center at noon. RSVP by Mon., Oct. 17.   Call the office or put an “L” by your name on the attendance register.  (PK)

Oct. 11 – I gather with a group of men on the first and third Friday mornings of each month.  We had a great time of encouragement and study this a.m.  Guys, you need this in your life.  If you want to meet with our group, come Fri. Oct. 21 at 8 a.m. in the Activity Center.  If you can’t make it Fridays, call me and let’s figure out a group that will work for you.  (PK)

Oct. 11 – Believe it or not, it’s time to think about Christmas.  Want to give globally?  Operation Christmas Child delivers shoeboxes filled with gifts to kids all over the world.  Boxes are now available.  Want to give closer to home?  The SCBC collects Christmas packages for 25,000+ prisoners here in SC.  A list of approved items and the correct procedure is available though the church office.  (PK)

Oct. 11 – A huge “Thanks” to all who responded so quickly and generously to help Hurricane Matthew victims. The full effects are still unknown.  Pray for those affected, and for those who will assist in rebuilding. (PK)

Oct. 12 – Of the three births in today’s People-Sentinel, two are FBC babies!J  Check out those beautiful pictures of Olivia Ryan Hindman and Emmalin Carlisle Huber. (PK)

Oc. 13 – Amie Sanders had emergency surgery today in Orangeburg. By God’s kind providence, it was the best place she coul be. I appreciate that Rachel Mayfield spent the day with her and Gibby.  There is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.” Rachel is just such a friend.  (PK)

Oct. 13 – I’m busy mapping out our next sermon series.  I think we will be studying the Gospel of John.  I’ve discovered a wonderful video I hope to incorporate.  And I’m looking for a book that we can all read together as we have done in the past.  Any suggestions?  (PK)

Oct. 14 – We get to keep Gabriel for a few days while Beth and Jesús travel to Raliegh, NC, where they plan to move next year.  I sure do love being that happy baby’s Papa!  (PK)
